CONTROLLING AC APPLIANCE WITH COMPUTER

CONTROLLING AC APPLIANCE WITH COMPUTER
By: Utkarsh

Hello everyone, today I will share my experience of controlling AC appliance with the computers. During our last hobby club we, the children of IT club, had switched on and off the electric AC bulb (220V) with the help of our computers by accessing the local IP address of raspberry pi, which is a small single-board computer.

It was my first experience of controlling an AC appliance with the help of a Local Area Network. We can control even from a long distance with the help of internet as the internet is the net of connections, interlinked to each and every computer in the world for sharing information and other resources.

Raspberry Pi is a small computer which has 40 GPIO(s) (General Purpose Input Output) pins. Each pin is programmable and the programme is stored in the micro SD card in it. It uses python language for controlling AC appliance as python is the language which helps computers to control hardware with the help of the software.

We have programmed in such a way that when we sends 0 (input command)from our computer to raspberry pi (processing) where it is processed and then the solid state relay turn on the AC light bulb (220V) (output). And, when we send 1 to raspberry, the relay switches off the bulb. A relay is a very small device which acts like a switch for AC connections and can be used to complete or break the circuit, which in result helps us to control the AC appliances. It works on the principle of electromagnetism.

It was a very good experience for me and I think this technology should be used in home automation as well as in our school with adding photo –resistors which will help us to reduce the electric bill as well as switching on and off the electric appliances at the right time.

Thank you.

Force, Friction and Fusion

Force, Friction and Fusion By: Utkarsh Hello everyone, well it’s been a long time since my last post. Yes, I wasn’t getting enough time to express my creativity of writing out for myself, I was engaged in various time taking activities which were also latent and away from exposed clicks. Yesterday while having a conversation with one of my college’s friends, I explained them the relation of my favorite subject and favorite person from which the title of this blog is derived. Also, there are both direct and indirect meanings of title exists as there is a word that is also part of TFC. Everyone here has been with basic Physics, where they might have learnt that Force is a physical quantity that describes the interaction between two objects, which can cause a change in motion, shape or state of rest of an object, which is expressed as F = ma and it’s SI unit is Newton. Well, we are not here to study Physics 😂 but yes, we will be relating it with the incidences as it best descr...

Industrial Visit to Power Grid Corporation of India

Industrial Visit to Power Grid   Corporation of   India  (400/220kV Station) By: Utkarsh Hello everyone, today I will be sharing my experience as Industrial visit to PGCIL, Kursi road, Barabanki, Lucknow.   Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) or PGCIL is schedule ‘A’, ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise of Govt. of India which was incorporated on October 23, 1989 under the company act of 1956. I along with thirty others combined from first, second and third year of different branches who are volunteers in Tech Fusion Club at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki, Lucknow visited there along with our favourite mentor Er. Abhishek Kumar Saxena sir, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Communication Engineering.  Though we were give home-work of finding and exploring what are PSUs, Navaratna and Maharatna companies but I guess no one showed interest in exploring about it seriously and thus many were blank when the...
