बलिया , उत्तर प्रदेश की वह वीरभूमि जो स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के समय अपने बगावती तेवरों के लिए जानी जाती थी। इस भूमि ने न जाने कितने क्रांतिकारियों को जन्म दिया, लेकिन कुछ ऐसे नाम भी हैं जो समय की धूल में खो गए। ब्रह्मेश्वर नाथ पाण्डेय , जिन्हें लोग  झूलन जी  के नाम से जानते थे, ऐसे ही एक विस्मृत योद्धा थे, जिनकी गाथा आज फिर से सामने लाना जरूरी है। ब्रह्मेश्वर नाथ पाण्डेय सिर्फ़ क्रांतिकारी नहीं थे, वे एक  प्रखर चिंतक ,  सामाजिक न्याय के पक्षधर , और  अंग्रेज़ी भाषा के विशेषज्ञ  थे। उनकी अंग्रेज़ी इतनी प्रभावशाली थी कि उस दौर के  DM और SP भी उनसे बहस करने से कतराते थे । बलिया के लोग बताते हैं कि जब किसी को सरकारी समस्या होती थी, तो वे झूलन जी का हस्तलिखित पत्र लेकर अधिकारी के पास जाते और तुरंत सुनवाई होती।  यह उस युग में अभूतपूर्व सामाजिक प्रभाव का संकेत है , जब आम जनता और अफसरों के बीच गहरी दूरी हुआ करती थी। झूलन जी ने  बलिया के कांग्रेस सेवा दल के कप्तान  के रूप में युवाओं को संगठित किया। 1936-37 के आंदोलनों में उन्होंने नेतृत्व किया और ...
